Highlights
1. Paper grade talc powder lowers abrasion to paper machine fabrics and mechanical tools during the production.
2. Talc is lamellar (platy and layered) in structure, even spread across the surface and reduces spots, defects and holes in the final output of paper.
3. Talc powder for pulp enhances printability of the finished paper.
4. Using finely micronized Talc powder improves quality of printed images.
5. Talcum powder enhances opacity of the resulting paper.
6. Talc in pulp industry improves whiteness of the resulting paper.
Introduction of Talc powder for pulp:
Talc is a naturally occurring mineral, mined from the earth, composed of magnesium, silicon, oxygen, and hydrogen. Chemically, talc is a hydrous magnesium silicate with a chemical formula of Mg3Si4O10(OH)2.
Paper companies use paper grade talc powder to make the paper more absorbent and allow for dryer paper products. The roles played by talc in pulp industry are very significant. While talc powder is at the same time a raw material, it is also used as an auxiliary agent during various stages of the manufacturing process. Futai Mineral is the leading producer and exporter of Paper Grade Talc Powder.
Effects and benefits:
★ Powdered Talc is soft and chemically inert. As a result, paper grade talc powder lowers abrasion to paper machine fabrics and mechanical tools during the production phase.
★ Talc is also lamellar (platy and layered) in structure. Hence, talc in pulp industry even spread across the surface and reduces spots, defects and holes in the final output of paper.
★ Talc used in pulp enhances printability of the finished paper by improving important characteristics such as scuff resistance, ink gloss and optimum ink transfer. Additionally, print mottling is reduced.
★ Using finely micronized Talc contributes to a smoother finish, which improves quality of printed images.
★ Opacity of Talc powder enhances opacity of the resulting paper. In turn, paper with good opacity assures legibility of printed text or images on both sides of paper.
★ Whiteness of Talc improves whiteness of the resulting paper. Firstly, this boosts the colour of printed matter. Secondly, the colour of paper (specially craft paper) itself is optimized.
Main uses of Talc powder for paper:
★ Virgin Pulp
★ RCF and Dip Production
★ Newsprint
★ Tissue Paper
★ Printing and Writing Paper
★ Speciality Papers
★ Packaging and Board
